$ Got a Great Idea?
IF YOU DON’T KNOW about this, you should. And you should tell any friends you know who are ‘idea’ minded. Curiously, you may not have heard anything about it simply because the information is hidden deep inside the Charleston Chamber of Commerce web site. Regardless, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone (5 winners actually) who may have limited means but lots of vision. Here’s the text verbatim from the ThinkTec web site:
“The New Ideas SC contest could be your big break! Enter your idea for a new business—whether for a product or service. If your idea is judged as THE best new business idea you will be our Grand Prize Winner and receive $5,000 to use to help kick-start your business. You will also receive a ‘Dream Team’ of advisors and a scholarship to the FastTrac® entrepreneurial training program of your choice. All we want is the ‘idea’—you do not have to submit a business plan, schematics or prototype. Just answer a few questions about the idea and THAT’S IT. So enter the New Ideas SC Contest between July 27, 2009 and September 21, 2009.
“Submit your idea into one of our five categories: Bio-Science, Environmental Sustainability, Engineering, Software & Internet Technology, and the most popular—Wildcard. Category winners receive $2,500 and Category runner-ups receive $1,000. All winners receive a scholarship to the FastTrac® entrepreneurial training class of their choice (NewVenture™, GrowthVenture™. or TechVenture™).
“Prizes will be awarded at the Small Business Innovation Summit on November 4, 2009 in Charleston, SC. This event attracts business leaders, economic developers, entrepreneurs, and technology-based service providers to showcase technology and innovation-based business opportunities.
Past topics include aerospace, bioscience, alternative energy, entrepreneurialism, funding a business, intellectual property, marketing, educational resources, attracting talent, and much more. The Summit will focus on innovation within the small business community—how small businesses through innovation can create jobs and guide South Carolina into the future.
